Warning. Maybe this will scare the little ones. Do Not Look!

Ha, you will though.

I know you cannot resist seeing the danger I was in today. Cops all over the place. Wahoo. But they did not catch me.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Trekking back down the mountain, I almost ran into a lady cop climbing up in full gear. In passing I asked if she was having fun, she sure looked like she was struggling with the climb. She said not so much in all that gear. Thankfully, she did not shoot me.

I started to run and did not look back, although she was not too hard on the eyes and had that pistol hanging off her hip. Wahoo.

Down below another one on a bike, a guy checking out the surroundings. I was running down and I said to him that “She went that away.” and I pointed up the path I had just come down. He said “How do you know who I am looking for?” I said well, “I know.” He just laughs. I am way past him at that point. He did not shoot me either. Double thank you and I chuckled along my way!

Once I made it down to the parking lot, I saw another cop coming down the mountain road to the parking lot. Then further along two more cop cars over at another entrance. Wonder who they were looking for? Not me! I got away and did not get my pictures arrested.

Ok, back to the Mt Doug expedition now.

Hmmm. I shot this from the hole inside a tree. Looks like maybe a squirrel in there? You may say nuts to that. Well, the picture is not so great. I had to lighten it up quite a bit as it was so dark inside that hole so the tree looks white. Which it surely is not.

A tree in a V, it must be.

Dang is that a snake that almost got me? Those naked trees can be dangerous!

Swampy bog creeky creek. What is thou doing in the water, my lovely lily?

Mega Lilies all in a row.

Picture withheld to protect the innocent.

A star is born. Rise up and smell the day.

Well I guess that was enough excitement for one day. No wonder I am exhausted today. Who knows what lies lurking deep within the Mt Doug forest.

Be careful out there.

Love and peace,

Looking at my previous post which was quite awhile ago when the Olympic Torch passed through our local community. It actually started in Victoria, BC and was quite impressive, then traveled across the country and to parts far north.

People became quite emotional about it and the Olympic Games in Vancouver and Whistler, BC turned out to be a tremendous success with Canada winning the most gold medals after having had two Olympics on our soil without having won even one gold prior.

More than that though it gave us inspiration and a coming together in this spirit. Even our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, attended the games and many events. Of course some were saying that is why he prorogued Parliament so he could spend a nice vacation there and enjoy the spillover effects. Yes he is a hockey fan like many Canadians, yet mostly an opportunist. Well we won’t let that kind of stuff interfere with the good times that happened during the games and that transcended the mundane aka politics.

All right then(now) I managed to make it up Mt Doug again, quite a few times recently, and revisited the seaside park side as well. So I have a few pictures to share.

If you are feeling a bit crabby, I found a mate for you:

After turning it over from under a rock it was ready for me and in attack mode.

I found the leaning tree again. It is amazing how it is still standing. Most of the bank, where the roots stick out from, has eroded away.

I got quite close to this fellow who was pecking away without paying any attention to me. All that pecking was doing some major damage to the tree of course.

I also caught someone else in the “act” so to speak. Well some of these need assistance in breeding their offspring. Nature, unlike most humans, does not care who is looking at them.

Yes, spring is in the air and on the land in this fair place. I reckon we got a fair bit of heaven here.

Well, that is it for today, as I say, more to come.

Best wishes to you.

Eugene

Well this was a somewhat painful experience that turned into pleasure, later on. Don’t worry if you do not like the black and red stuff I have a poem about some knickers later on to share with you.

Those blackberry thorns attacked me quite good I reckon. Nasty and very thorny and eager to attach themselves to your skin and watch you try to pull back and they go deeper into your skin. So multiple scratches abound and that had some cleaning up to do. Did I say RED? The blackberry season is a bit late this year so many are still not ripe. When you pick them green, they stay green. Only way to pick them is very black and ripe. The blackberry plants are all over this island so picking is free.

The later on came after I made low sugar uncooked freezer blackberry jam, the taste and flavor is tailor made to die for, of course. I substitute a bit of honey for sugar and then it only takes 1 cup of sugar plus half a cup of honey to go with 4 cups of berries. Much healthier than regular jam which has a high content of sugar of at least 4 or 5 cups of sugar. Keeps up to a year in the freezer.

Goes great with my buttermilk, oatmeal, spelt pancakes and topped with fresh blueberries and perhaps a little bit of organic maple syrup. Oops I forgot to take a picture of them. They are all gone.

I do have a picture or two of the blackberry bushes and thorns. The picture is a bit of an illusion. The thorns come first. The best comes last and well worth the wait and pain. No pain no gain, as they say. Whoever they may be! Did I mention that I like blackberries?

Ok, so moving on to another realm entirely. I did a few poems recently, yes there are lots already posted here, you just have to search near the top of this blog for the link to them and follow near the bottom of those pages for the subpages to discover more poems. Don’t worry I will post the links here for the new ones.

So without further ado here are the most recent poems.

Mommy Dearest

The Shadows of Your Mind

Jump Up Now

What, if anything, do they have with blackberries? Well mostly nothing I suppose. I do not have a blackberry but I do have blackberries, do you? Just do not spill these blackberries on a white article of clothes. It will stain it right good I reckon.

Now as I recall it took me a long time to go and get those blackberries about 45 minutes there and back on foot. In the morning it was cool and cloudy but by the time I went it was very hot. So I had to wear shorts so that is one reason for the massive attack on my person.

Anyway, on the way back I had to stop in at Starbucks for a cool one. I waited a long time in line. The guy in front of me kept letting in “his people”, two in front of him then another couple, then a lady who was totally engrossed into ordering a whack of stuff. So I am so parched by then I can hardly stand up any longer.

I had been thinking on the way there that on July 31st I had gone to Starbucks to pick up a free drink they were giving away card holders, a viviano strawberry banana smoothie. As I recall I was quite parched that day also. When I get in line they say they cannot make it because they are out of bananas and I should go to a different store near where I had just been before coming there. I was not going to walk back.

So to continue on the blackberry story at the other Starbucks, the guy ahead of me could see me drooping and feeling a bit guilty now, asked me what I wanted and then he bought me a vende mocha frappuccino. Wow, instant manifestation. This also reminded me also of the post on manifestation by Lydia on her new blog Serenity Chat. She asked “Can manifestations really be helpful?” Damn right I reckon! Without a doubt maestro.

Anyway my viviano turned into a frappuccino. So that is close enough for me!

Some time ago, I posted 10 Minutes To Creating Whatever You Want In Life. That is a simple step by step way to do it and I had success with doing this daily. It really works.

Some will say that it is too simple. Well simplicity is the key as is repetition, over and over again along with a desire to do so. I imagine you have heard about The Secret and the Law of Attraction. All of this is part of an overall philosophy. You can adapt any of this to use to create what you want in life. Or do nothing. YOU and only you, DECIDE.

I believe there are no gurus and you are the one to take the initiative to create the life you want. That includes no sitting on the mountain top. Sure you can meditate and become involved in a spiritual journey. Ultimately it is you who decides what that journey will be, and even if you listen to someone else, they cannot live it. They may come along for the ride but it is your journey.

Along the same philosophy is something called Mind Movies. Mind Movies can be made to assist you in creating what you want. I was introduced to this sometime last year. It is an interesting concept. Check out the movie and get 6 Free Mind Movies now. Use them daily for at least 30 days and longer is what I suggest you do. Hey, it is FREE, what have you got to lose? Sometimes the best things in life are free. You can easily fit 5 or 10 minutes into your day. Just decide to do so.

I mentioned that for the Canada Day celebrations in Victoria, BC one of the performing groups was Pacifika, Pacifikamusic and they were really good and well received by the large crowd on hand. I did a pictorial video of them, the crowd and some scenes. Here is the result. I hope you like it:

Pacifica Performs Canada Day July 1, 2009

This is the first, my first, YouTube – ing creation so it is a bit rusty and I could not quite manage to get the shot I wanted above. I showed this to one of my daughters and she said “Those are great shots! I like the music- it’s so relaxing ” And my granddaughter said “Cool”. My other daughter said “I got the pictorial vids.. they looked great. Nice to see Victoria through your eyes.”

A little bit of fireworks at the end. I did another pictorial video on the fireworks but have not uploaded it, not sure I will. Here is one photo of the fireworks:

Some of the pictures came out quite psychedelic, purely by accident of course.

Back to Pacifika, a lot of fireworks there!. The lead singer is Silvana Kane, originally from Peru who landed in Quebec and did not know the language and is now living in Vancouver. Awesome, sexy, vibrant, sensual and a definite crowd pleasing performance. Oops losing my train of thought again. I cannot figure out why.

One last picture and has become a favorite of mine, not quite sure why.

Anyway, it was a great day celebrating Canada Day here in Victoria, BC. Got to love this place, everyday I am grateful for just being, and being here.

Cheers,

Eugene

There are likely a few ladies out there who have danced to the “end of love” with Leonard Cohen. Like Willy Nelson and Julio Iglesias in sentimentality at least with their song To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before, Cohen has had his share of ladies. But I am not here to talk about Willy and Julio. Not not Bill “Willy” Clinton! I tend to like to feature Canadian artists as much as possible.

On a recent CBC television interview Cohen says he has not regrets about the ladies and for not having had a one long term partner. He also talked about depression in the interview. I do find some of his music melancholy and while I like some of his music I tend to favor upbeat music most of the time. Cohen started out as a poet, writer, comedian in his early days in Montreal. Perhaps he was funny back then. He does a lot of concerts and travels quite a bit.

For the most part Canadians are a tolerant lot and most usually disregard things such as race, religion and philosophy. That is one of the great features for living in Canada. The minorities are working at being close to a majority in the general population of Canada. Most people can speak any language in Canada and people do not mind. We tend to honor that in people and respect their heritage. It is mainly about respect and tolerance. Most do not see it as a threat at all.

Somehow Dance Me To The End Of Love fits with that also even though music tends helps to transcend the human condition and rise above so much of the pettiness, violence and the like. Cohen is Jewish and we do not care. So here is that video and song:

Another song I liked from a long time ago was Suzanne. (hot) But that is for another day and time. The wannabe poet in me resonates with that and others.

Also a recent contest in Canada had a number of Cohen songs on it and the version of Cohen’s Hallelujah was done by KD Lang. Cohen had also said in the interview previously mentioned this version by Lang touched him. Here is her version of Hallelujah:

That is a beautiful version, for sure. I hope you enjoyed these two great Canadian artists, . We do have a few of them,Canadian songwriters and singers, in Canada and around the globe. Wink wink. I’ll see if I can find a few more for you another day.

Cheers,

I went for a walk around Cedar Hill Golf Course the other day and decided to stop along the way and relax at a water spot. It was fairly quiet with a few people stopping to enjoy the view. It is kind of a duck world there as it was teeming with various duck couples and duck families of different sizes.

There was a mother duck with her very young fuzzy ducklings. The daddy, aka The Big Quack, was there also and they were standing guard. But they seemed to be ok with me being there. Big Quack took off for awhile making some creative waves as he left the ground into the water and then came back after awhile of being off duty.

So I took the opportunity to just be for awhile then I snapped a few photographs.

Here are a few of them.

Then along comes another little bigger duckie newbie and Mother Duck is Giving that one her scorn. “You stay away from my duckies or you are going to be one sorry looking batch of feathers devoid of any life form known to duckkind.” Yes, you don’t want to mess with Mom!

Ok, that is a wrap as I got to go.

Be kind be serene enjoy the scene.

Best wishes to everyone.

Cheers,

I received an email from Scott last night in which contained a link to a video about water. The video was called Water, The Great Mystery. Indeed it is, I added the life part because without it life simply would not exist.

The video was compared with the movie What The Bleep Do We Know, which is an excellent movie. I have viewed that movie 5 or 6 times and learned something each time.

Anyway, this video is not quite the same thing but does give some powerful insights on just how magnificent water really is, H2O. It has some amazing qualities. Of course we know that life would not exist without water. Our bodies can contain up to 78% water.

Oops, just had to go and get a drink of water. All this talk about water was making me thirsty. We are fortunate to have an abundance of water around here.

There are many interesting things in the video, such as the work of Dr Masaru Emoto who has done experiments examining such emotions as love, peace, music, photographs, thoughts, prayers and the effects they have on water. How water responds differently to different emotions and treatment. Also discussed is how our emotions affect one another and also can be transferred to water.

The video is 1 hour and 20 minutes long so view it when you have some free time, grab some popcorn or a glass or two of water.

I will leave you with a few more pictures from Mt Doug. These are hidden treasures that you won’t see unless you hike up the trails. Worth the effort, for me, at least.

Sure there may be monsters lurking up the pathways of life and perhaps even Mt Doug as we have seen. Fakers will be exposed so be careful where you tread. I managed to tread carefully as best as could be and travel on and not retreat, although this makes for a nice retreat. I am glad I did.

The essence of life and spirit is everywhere. This is a great way to meditate, sit awhile or a walking meditation. Ha, even Lydia could meditate up here!

So along the pathways I kept wandering and meandering up and over and around and I did discover more treasures not all of the wooden kind. Scenic treasure of lush green and colorful abundance.

Trees around here some of which are many hundreds of years old. Here is an old tree giving life to a new one. The new tree is growing and feeding on the old decaying moss covered tree remains.

This stuff growing on the trees is called someone’s beard or something. Old man’s beard I suppose. When it dries it is really neat and you can make it into craft material and such. It goes grey or white when dry.

There are some humungous trees around here and a real northern rain forest type of environment. So it is very nice to view. Look up way up!

Springtime is special with all the new growth coming through and the regeneration. Old gives way to youth eventually and so are reborn and renewed.

Ok, so those are a few more of the delights I found in the forest to balance the monsters and to provide contrast, nourishment for the soul. I do like to discover and rediscover the hidden treasures of the wooden and earthy kind. Mother Earth you are so wonderful.

Cheers,
