Ode to D
Ode to D
Admiral qualities about you, wrote
Ringing clear with familiarity
Seen in print, somewhere, your note
Imagination? Clearly still I do not see
A sense of excitement with my first letter
When no reply, off goes a second one
With hopes, you’d see me, in a light, better
Then a call, some words, no common sense of one
Youthful beauty proclaimed, to be
I sense within sadness, a cry
of numbness, and of hurting, she
Reach out, hold back, at least you try
Bravo
The heart signals, the mind to open
From past hurts, did not, yet recover
Life, yes, surviving, coping
The key, is within D, to discover
Then, what is this ode to D
Nothing more, nothing less
For possibilities, that cannot, be
For things, alas, both did not confess
So onward, with our lives, we must
Can it be, that we are, never, free
How, do we find, that bond of trust
That elusive dream, we cannot see
Both may appear, younger, to others
It matters not, for does the spirit age
As in the song, about, under the covers
We cannot hide, as, lines on a page
No doubt, this is different for you
Do not fret so, it is only a soul
You did not meet, you cannot do
Someday, perhaps, when the spirit, whole
We, sometimes exude, improper projection
By phone, a way, to remain in control
Still ’tis hard, to feel, rejection
And leaves one, imagined, sans soul
I now will close on an upbeat note
Look inward, for it is the way
There you will find, what it is about
The heart will have, the final say
ADIEU
